About Us
Carrickfergus Art Club was formed in 1977 as part of a general Arts and Craft initiative sponsored by the local council. The club flourished and quickly became known for the calibre of it's amateur artists, many well established in their own rights. Over the years some have become professional artists exhibiting world wide. Many members are true stalwarts supporting and promoting the club throughout the borough and county.
There is no hierarchy of medium, no elitism, watercolour, pastel, oil, acrylic and encaustic wax are all treated equally. Every member has their favourite with many specialising in more than one medium. As a club they're open to new ideas, experimenting with new techniques and sharing experiences. Many genres are covered ranging from traditional landscapes through portraiture and wildlife to contemporary and abstract art.
The club meets every Tuesday night 7.15 pm to 9.15 pm during term time at Carrickfergus Academy (formerly Downshire School), Downshire Road, Carrickfergus BT38 7DA
