Daniela Balmaverde - Mixed Media
It’s not every day a Greek goddess just appears before your very eyes!  But here she is, courtesy of our fabulous demonstration artist Daniela Balmaverde.  Working in mixed media on a 3'x 3' canvas in only 15 minutes we could see our goddess appear. Thanks Daniela what a wonderful evening we all had.

It was fabulous to welcome our local artist Stephen back to the club and witness yet another one of his amazing creations come to life.  Working in a beautiful loose style in a surprising range of colours that reflect nature perfectly.  As usual we got lots of tips and techniques, thank you Stephen for a great evening.

Such a great start to the new club year with a demo from one of our favourite artists.  A lovely evening watching Colin's astounding talent, we all wished we could paint like that, flawlessly flowing from his brush. It's always a pleasure listening to his stories of H&W while bringing his painting to life.

Utterly amazing demo from Grahame Booth using watercolour for a beautiful and different view of Whitehead.  He really does make it look easy. As a club we are so lucky to enjoy demonstrations from such a range of fantastic artists willing to share so their talent with us.

We had a great night on 7th February with our demo from Des Monroe. He engages so well with the audience, sharing techniques, tips and hints on producing beautiful paintings in acrylic. Always an honour to have such a great artist demonstrating with the club.

What a fantastic demonstration night we had with Paul Wilson who showed us how to paint an acrylic landscape. Once again we'd like to thank him for a lovely evening with a lot of great tips and hints on this beautiful style of painting.

Stephen McClean - Watercolour

What a fantastic evening we had with Stephen,  it's always lovely when an artist is local and we feel a true connection with his work. His demo tonight brought us to a familiar place, overlooking Whitehead, White harbour to Kilroot from the Bla Hole.  It's amazing how a lovely loose painting can come alive so quickly, lots of tips and techniques to digest. Thanks Stephen, a great night.

The club extended a very warm welcome to Dessie for his excellent demonstration in acrylics.  He chatted warmly on how his style has evolved over the years, shared a joke or two and answered the many questions from the club members. Thanks Dessie for a very enjoyable night.

Sam Fleming - Modern Art

​We enjoyed a very informative and certainly educational evening with Sam who demonstrated the use of colour in paintings. The science behind the art, how to enhance a painting and how to tone it down. Using oil but easily applied to any medium. Another great evening with Sam Fleming.

​Paul gave a very engaging demonstration in charcoal. A fascinating insight into the different techniques for producing depth and tone without the use of colour.

Great interest and enthusiasm was sparked within the club to give charcoal a go!

Kim Montgomery - Acrylics

The club enjoyed a lovely demo in acrylics by Kim Montgomery. Her chosen subject, a portrait of the younger David Hockney who’s considered to be one of the most influential British artists of the 20th century. Kim used only black medium to create the portrait from a detailed line drawing.

Colin H Davidson - Oil

What a fabulous demonstration by Colin H Davidson, painting in oil he brought a blank canvas to life in less than 2 hours. His witty tales of the shipyard, stories of the people and ships added to the authenticity of his paintings. It was a great pleasure to have such an accomplished artist with demonstrating with us.

Trisha Campbell - Watercolours

​Such a lovely watercolour demonstration with Trisha. What a pleasure it was to see her beautiful hare painting come to life, both delicate and striking, the paint flowed effortlessly from her brushes. The demo sparked real enthusiasm among the members.  A great start to the year.

Roger Waring - Oil

​Roger really showed us how's it's done, how to create a beautiful painting in less than an hour. Using a black canvas his application of acrylic paint brought the lighthouse to life almost immediately. Thank you Roger for giving us inspiration to paint with more confidence and perhaps try out black canvases.

Louis Humphrey - Acrylics/oil

WOW blank canvas to snowy masterpiece in less than 2 hours. What a fabulous demonstration, using only three colours Louis showed us really how it was done, trade secrets and all! I think there will be a few snow scenes on our easels this weekend, thanks to Louis for a great evening.
